![]() ![]() Tell him or her to knock it off and either get a job or open up their science book and study. If your teen is wasting his or her time listening to musical tones, well, consider yourself lucky: at least he or she isn’t out there stealing cars or robbing people on the street. I honestly think this is much ado about nothing. You know, because listening to two tones of audio is the same as rolling. The danger of I-Dosing, I suppose, is to to get young people comfortable with the idea of doing drugs, which could make them more willing to actually do drugs later on in life. It’s based on an old audio technique called binaural beats, which was discovered in the 1800s. The actual act of I-Dosing isn’t all that new. This is all basically Reefer Madness for the iPad generation. ![]() Binaural beats have no scientifically verified benefits. Because bored teens would never post untruthful videos to YouTube, right? It is not a form of meditation, as only meditation has the effect of reducing sleep needs. The story, which seems to have originated in The Daily Mail, focuses on YouTube videos that young people have posted, each apparently showing them “freaking out” while I-Dosing. Well, the science is there, but don’t equate it to “getting high.” Do not call your congressman trying to get it banned or whatever because you’d simply be wasting your time. However the research is limited, only supplemented by large anecdotal accounts by ADHD people across the board, me included. It can also be used to create a sense of awareness, which is a little like being. There was a study last year by Cambridge that concluded that Binaural beats raised the subjective study performance of those with ADHD, verses then listening to a placebo ‘binaural’ frequency. Binaural beats can assist/enhance neuroplasticity and entrainment towards a specific task or desirable outcome, not produce it for you. Its a very small effect, so it only works when youre not experiencing any other stimuli that keeps you awake. It also takes a positive frame of mind to be consistent and persistent and to keep if off long term. You can use it to help your brain gear down when you want to relax. I tried using I-Doser nearly three years ago, and let me tell you something: it’s bunk. Its not bullshit, but its not at all what its hyped up to be. Binaural beats have been shown to have many benefits for individuals with ADHD, including improving focus, reducing anxiety, and promoting relaxation. It was common knowledge that the beats 'tunes' the brainwave, determining such effects more recent studies suggest that they change the way. The Benefits of Binaural Beats for ADHD Binaural beats are a type of sound therapy that uses two different tones played in each ear to create a third tone, which can influence brainwave activity. That’s the only way I can describe the story going around talking about how teens are “getting high” while I-Dosing. Rules can be found on the wiki.Review the rules before posting or replying on r/Subliminal. The effects of binaural beats has been scientifically proven (check pubmed for some insight) but the perceived effects may vary drammatically from person to person. ![]()
